Made some tweaks to the sound effects. Suddenly realized I overlooked a critical effect, the sound buttons make in Portal. Also gives a glimpse at the mess of circuitry used to run this. First tiny board is a small self made power distribution board to supply 12V from the PSU for the front white LED button switches. The chip is a 4N25MFS-ND Opto Isolator used to translate the blinking LED signal from an xbox 360 wireless controller receiver and make the white ring blink on the left hand button when I press to sync a controller. The signal inputs to an internal LED which induces a photo transistor to turn on. So when the 360 adapter LED blinks, the switch blinks. I used to have the LED driven directly from the 360 adapter but the white LED was far too dim as it needs more power than the original green LED. This arrangement lets me power it from a 12V source but induce the sync blink from a separate device.

The main boards are an Arduino Uno and Adafruit AudioFX board (soldered to permaproto board) in a 3D printed mount. Not designed by me, found it here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:113612 I had it printed by http://i.materialise.com since I don't own a printer. Both powered by the 5V rail/line of the PC PSU. It also powers and delivers signal to the window LED strips. Code is written such that it runs through lights and sounds when powered on. It settles into a pulsing LED mode, whoch then can be cycled to steady on, off, and pulsing using the right hand switch.
