60Apex NEEDS to fix it’s Quitting system #ragequit . When a player quits #apex your whole game is ruined there should be a system in place where you get a new teammate in the event that yours quits.
The rage quitting on knock, early leavers, split dropping is getting out of control. Several very big name content creators have said it is worse this season than ever before.
One idea proposed was if someone leaves the match while still able to be revived, or if they can be respawned within 2 minutes, or hot drops dies and quits, that match counts as a death, and any kills or damage or battle pass progression will not be counted.
As a day zero, minute zero player, I agree, the quitting and leaving in pubs for whatever reason is beginning to ruin the game. Some type of penalty system needs to be implemented, just because it's pubs doesn't mean the quitters should ruin 2 other players' experience.
Someone gets knocked in pubs and you deliberately have to play worse because you know you have maybe 15 seconds tops to do something about it. I'd happily see penalties apply but at the moment there are several big obstacles.
Three fundamental problems with the current system:
SBMM being so out of touch. It's hard to justify leaver penalties when the SBMM only makes leaving more desired. (Personally I don't encounter this issue myself, but apparently a lot of people do.)
Leaving BR rewards the quitter. Preventing a death being recorded only encourages players to quit and is the opposite of what it should do. Arenas magnifies this issue with the whole winning streak thing. Apex NEEDS to fix it’s Quitting system!
AFKing is a lighter penalty than the penalty itself. Forcing a quitter to AFK would still be better than nothing, except this shifts the burden of the penalty onto the good players who now have already had their game thrown but still can't leave without being punished further.
On top of those fundamentals, 2 more I can think of:
For some reason Respawn can't code it right. It's difficulty to understand how the game is still penalising the non-quitters in Arenas, even after they took the feature down to address exactly that. But that's how it is. It's hard to say "Yeah penalties in pubs" while we are still in the era of "Respawn can't figure out how to only apply penalties to the right people".
There are frequently fair reasons to quit that don't deserve to be punished, toxicity being the simplest. No-one should have to be punished for choosing to leave a bad environment. Some kind of tracking over time could address this imo, as others have suggested.
The odds of a downed or eliminated teammate leaving before you can make a sensible play are definitely above 50% from what I experience.
But right now there are too many broken bits in the way to imagine Respawn implementing anything without it being much like the mess they've made of Arenas penalties. They've got to fix some of the above points first at least.
