Get in to the 30-story building and plus 1 basement via rooftop. Collect secret documents can be find behind the red door. Watch out for enemies. When you collect all documents, go to B1F and escape the building. You can use some elevators or escalator to move upper or lower floors.
Controlled with 4-way joystick and two buttons.
A sequel of this game is called Elevator Action -Returns-, Elevator Action II in US, released in 1994.
- Tips -
- You can shoot lamps(lights). Shoot the lamp and it will make ALL areas of the building lights out.
- You can't shoot to your upper side or down side. You can shoot only left or right side.
- You can control elevators when you are riding on. Move your joystick up or down to move the elevator upper or lower. You can dodge enemies' shots by moving the elevator up or down.
- You can beat enemies not only using your gun, but also jumping. Hit enemies by your foot while jumping.
- You can't be hit while using escalators.
- Don't forget to collect all documents. When you get down to the B1F with one or some missing documents, you will be sent to the red door that you forgot to get in. If you missed to collect documents at 5F, 8F, for example, you will be sent 8F. You will be sent to the highest floor where you missed to get in the red door.
- You can beat enemies by using elevator. You can smash or squeeze enemies when enemies are stand behind the floor and the elevator. However, you can also be squeeze or smash as enemies did. Watch out elevators that going down to your head, or going up when you stand not inside of the elevator, but upper side.

엘리베이터를 이용해 건물을 오르내리면서 기밀 문서를 탈취해 탈출해야 하는 독특한 게임성을 가진 게임. 1980년대 초반 타이토의 인기 게임 가운데 하나였다. 오토라는 이름의 주인공을 움직여 30층 높이의 건물의 옥상에서부터 시작해 지하1층까지 내려오면서 몇몇 층에 숨겨진 문서(붉은 문 뒤에 있음)를 획득해야 한다.
- 팁 -
- 에스컬레이터를 타고 있는 동안에는 피격되지 않는다.
- 엘리베이터에 타고 있을 때, 레버를 상하로 움직여 엘리베이터를 조종할 수 있다. 이를 이용하여 적을 압사시키거나 끼어 죽게 만들 수 있다.
- 천장에 달린 조명을 쏘아 떨어뜨리면 일정 시간동안 건물 전체가 암전된다.
- 엘리베이터를 타고 내리는 그 순간에 피격당하지 않도록 주의.
- 적들이 엘리베이터에 압사당할 수 있는 만큼, 오토도 엘리베이터에 압사당할 수 있다.
- 이야깃거리 -
건물의 전체 구조는 지상 30층 지하 1층으로 동일하나, 세부적인 측면에서는 스테이지마다 조금씩 차이가 있다. 이를테면, 1층에서 지하로 내려가는 엘리베이터의 위치는 스테이지마다 다르며, 기밀 문서가 있는 방의 위치도 다 다르다.. 중간에 에스컬레이터도 있고 암전된 구간도 있다.
일본 내에서는 1986년에 출시되었던 버블보블의 인기가 적은 편이었다. 국내에서는 버블보블이 대히트를 치고 인기게임으로 간주되었던 것과 대비된다. 일본애서는 차라리 본 작품이나 심지어 그 이전에 출시되었던 작품들(카게의 전설, 프론트 라인)이 더 인기가 많은 편이었다.
스테이지에 배치된 기밀 문서는 만약 하나라도 놓칠 경우, 지하1층에서 가장 멀리 떨어진 곳으로 강제로 이동하게 된다. 예를 들면, 24층과 8층에 있는 기밀 문서를 획득하지 않고 지하 1층으로 내려갈 경우, 오토가 놀라며 24층으로 강제로 이동한다.
난이도가 올라갈 수록 적들의 움직임과 사격 속도가 빨라지기 때문에 주의해야 한다. 시간을 너무 오래 지체하면 배경음이 바뀌고 적들의 움직임과 사격 속도가 가장 빠른 상태로 바뀐다. 이는 게임이 완전히 끝나기 전까지 계속 지속된다.
