Out Run 2 (c) 2004 Sega.

Drive through courses with beautiful scenery before the time runs out. Like original Out Run, released in 1986 by Sega, players can select which course they'd like to go. At the end point of each courses, players need to turn wheel left or right to select course. Left side courses are easier than right side courses.

Controlled with a steering wheel, 2 pedals, and up-down gear shifter.

Trivia -
This game is officially licensed by Ferarri for using layouts of cars and logo, which is the main difference between Original Out Run. By the time Out Run was in developing progress, Sega DIDN'T GET A LICENSE FROM Ferarri. The car looked like Testa Rossa, and there was a logo. At that time, there were lots of sources used in arcade games from Japan, which didn't get license from originals. So there was lawsuit between Sega and Ferarri, and Sega gave Ferarri lots of indemnities.

Gear-shift technique, which is once referred as tricks in original Out Run, is a key to make drifts without losing lots of speed in this game. In original, that technique can make a car run WITHOUT LOSING SPEED when the car is in outside of course. In this game, however, gear-shift technique is necessary when you select transmission MT. When you want to make drift, shift gear down quickly before you steer your wheel left or right.

This game also have Slipstream for make car faster-move your car at the back side of other cars and it will reduce air resistence.

At first, this game ran on Sega Chihiro Hardware. But in later, it runs on Sega LINDBERGH Hardware. Console versions of this game were released for PlayStayion2 and XBOX.

Only at SDX version, up to 2 players can play this game simutaneously; drive the SAME car. Players can see there are 2 steering wheels, 2 brake and gas pedals on SDX. Drivers will be changed when they make an accident by crashing or running into junctions.

아웃런 2 (c) 2004 세가.

1986년에 출시된 동사의 레이싱 게임 아웃런의 정식 넘버링 후속작. 초대작과 마찬가지로 처음 출발하는 장소에서부터 총 14곳의 장소들 가운데 5곳을 골라 달리는 게임. 분기점에서 직접 왼쪽 또는 오른쪽으로 이동하여 코스를 정한다. 왼쪽이 쉬운 편이고 오른쪽이 어려운 편.
순위는 중요하지 않고 제한시간 내에 체크포인트를 통과하거나 결승선에 도착하면 된다. 페라리의 정식 라이센스를 받아서 실제 페라리 차량들이 등장한다. 때문에 본 작품은 "본격 페라리 타고 드리프트 하는 레이싱 게임"이라는 별명도 붙여져 있다. 현실성은 제법 높은데, 앞서가는 차량의 뒤쪽에 붙어 공기 저항을 줄여 속도를 높이는 슬립스트림도 구현되어 있다.

이야깃거리 -
페라리의 정식 라이센스를 받은 작품. 사실 1986년 초대작에서 세가는 페라리로부터 라이센스를 받지 않고 무단으로 페라리 차량을 사용했었다. 대상이 된 차량은 페라리 테스타로사. 실제 모습을 가지고 오지 않고 조금 수정했다고 하나, 페라리 로고가 들어가 있어 확인 사살. 때문에 당시 세가는 페라리에 로열티를 지불해야만 했었다. 물론 아웃런 2에 들어와서는 정식으로 라이센스를 받았기 때문에, 어트랙트 데모 화면에서 페라리 로고가 출력된다.

최초 본 작품은 Chihiro 기판으로 가동. 이후 LINDBERGH 기판으로 바뀌면서 아웃런 2 SP 라는 이름이 붙게 되었고, 새롭게 코스가 추가되었다. 두 기판 모두 당시 3D 그래픽 성능은 최상급에 속했다.

초대작 아웃런에서 스피드런을 하기 위해서는 기어 가챠 테크닉이 필수. 코너를 아무런 감속 없이 빠르게 도는 일종의 버그 비슷한 테크닉. 그러나 본 작품에서는 시프트 다운 테크닉이 필수. 수동 기어 모드에서 드리프트를 할 때, 브레이크를 밟지 않고 저단 기어로 바꿔서 드리프트를 한다. "페라리 타고 드리프트 하는 게임"이라는 별칭이 나온 이유가 바로 여기에 있다.

기체 바리에이션이 많은데, SDX 사양이 가장 화려하다. 실제 페라리 차량 모양으로 시트를 꾸며놓았기 때문. 총 4가지 형태가 있다. SDX 기체에서만, 2인 교대 드라이브 모드를 지원한다. 하나의 모니터에 2개의 핸들, 브레이크, 가속 페달이 달린 이유가 바로 여기에 있다. 분기점에 들어오거나 충돌이 발생했을 때 운전자를 서로 바꾼다. 일종의 협력 플레이인 셈.

여담 -
하트어택 모드는 동승자의 요구사항을 얼마나 충실하게 이행하는가에 따라 하트 토큰을 획득할 수 있습니다. "드리프트해," "차들을 추월해," "충돌하지 마," "정해진 길로 주행해" 등과 같은 요구사항들이 있습니다.
첫 두 코스를 AA 이상으로 클리어할 때, 스페셜 리퀘스트가 출현합니다. 이 스페셜 리퀘스트를 AA 이상으로 클리어하면 2, 3, 이런식으로 번호가 늘어갑니다. 단, A 이하 랭크를 받았을 경우에는 번호가 유지되거나 더 이상 등장하지 않습니다.
