I refuse to say back in my day. Games right now are simply too easy. Removal of permadeath, adding regenerating health, infinite retries and so on just lets you grind your way to the finish. And to make matters worse, most companies seem to only increase hitpoints of enemies to make games harder, which doesn't make them more fun.
