Arma III benchmark & graphics comparison on SteamOS & Windows
-To make one thing clear since I've read some comments on reddit:
There's nothing missing from the SteamOS version (effects & graphics). If you see differences in the benchmark is because it rarely runs exactly the same, and this is true for other benchmarks as well, not only this one.
Every time you run the benchmark (on SteamOS or Windows doesn't matter) things happen slightly different, explosions & debris trajectory, points of impact and smoke from these points of impact, soldiers are randomly placed and so on. These differences are not enough to affect the benchmarks results though.
(For the curious ones, I ran each benchmark for at least 12 times for each settings, so 12 times for Low, 12 times for Standard etc, and again the same thing on Windows.
And after finalizing the graphs I rerun the tests again for 6 times to make things sure.)
Also, the graphics comparison is made of actual gameplay, is not a fixed benchmark.
The weather in game is dynamic so yes, it's raining in SteamOS and not in Windows for few moments. Again, nothing is missing.
For the graphics comparison (recorded with the CPU) I used the highest (identical on both systems) graphical settings I could set while keeping a minimum of 50 FPS on both gameplay and recording.
SteamOS Alchemist 1.0 with Nvidia driver 352.41
Windows 7 Ultimate with Nvidia driver 355.82
