My S-rank attempt at Ocean Crossing, recorded in Update 1.03.1. S-rank seems generous considering that, while I didn't get hit by a PCA satellite, I still took quite a bit of damage from the PCA defense drones and also from the Sea Spider. The update nerfed tetrapod legs a bit and heavily nerfed stun needles and Songbirds. But, a build using these is still effective.
Because of the need to Assault Boost through the PCA satellites, I chose the lighter tetrapod legs (the Verrill) to minimize weight. I did keep the VE-40A core for the AP/defense though. The VP-46D arms were for their good balance of recoil control, firearms specialization, and melee specialization, and the Mind Beta head is for attitude stability.
The Pilebunker is my melee weapon of choice, since it's very easy to hit the Sea Spider with it. I normally don't use it because I have a hard time hitting the target with it. So, I chose the Kikaku boosters to maximize the melee damage from it.
Dual Songbirds are used for damage+stagger, since, while nerfed, they're still good, and the Hu-Ben gatling gun is for conventional firearm damage/stagger.
The Coral Generator comes along for the ride to provide plenty of energy for Assault Boosting.
