And now, even as the Xylem falls, Raven faces one whose life has already been lost yet continues to pay. The final C-Weapon of the Ibis series, designation 'IB-C03: HAL 826'. The only Ibis AC designed to be piloted now stands at the ready to eliminate Raven. Piloted by Handler Walter. Walter was captured along with Raven by Arquebus and the Vespers when they discovered the Coral and the Vascular Plant. Walter was able to help Raven escape, but himself couldn't. Now 're-educated', Walter's mind is fractured and in a state near death, living in a perpetual daydream and nightmare. He speaks to Raven ...no. To C4-621. But his actions cannot match his words. The additional Coral augmentation in Walter however seems to make him more aware of Ayre's presence. A fierce battle ensues and the Coral powered AC proves to be formidable, and its Coral weapons nothing short of deadly. 621 prevails. At the end, Walter doesn't mind if 621 does not fulfill his request. As Walter once told Carla, he believes 621 should also be able to choose their path. And just when the final dregs of life leave Walter's defiled and broken body, he sees Ayre and is truly happy in his heart that 621 found a friend. Ayre and 621 silently mourn Walter as they escape. The future is uncertain. But atleast Rubicon can still have a future..... thanks to The Raven and Ayre.
