Arsene Wenger has pretty much failed to sign every elite player of the last 25 years.
‘Specialist in failure’
‘Novice’
‘Stick to Japanese football’
Wenger has survived the slurs to become one of the most successful football managers in Britain, he has seven FA Cup titles to his name, three Premier League titles and a Champions League final to his name whilst manager of Arsenal.
But still, as clockwork, a continuous list of world class footballers are retrospectively linked to Arsenal in the media, long after Wenger’s retirement as manager in 2017.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic famously rejected a trial, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi came close as youngsters whilst Gerard Pique could have followed Cesc Fabregas to Highbury. Liverpool famously rejected a £40m + £1 offer for Luis Suarez whilst a glut of superstars from Kylian Mbappe to Jadon Sancho have all been seriously linked to the Highbury / Emirates club.
Would Arsenal have won the Champions League?
Would Arsenal have dominated English football?
