Art Of Fighting 2 is the second entry in the Art Of Fighting series, released by SNK in 1994. The style of gameplay is a versus fighting tournament. The game was originally made for the Neo Geo Advanced Entertainment System (AES) arcade hardware, and later ported to Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES).
In terms of throwing techniques, the sequel to Art Of Fighting greatly improves on the original. In the first installment, many of the characters had no throws at all, and those who did only had one each. This time, the game has more playable fighters, several of whom are able to perform two or more grappling attacks. There is a nice selection of moves on offer, including two types of Izuna Drop (inverted piledriver), one of which is spinning.
Some of the grabs in Art Of Fighting 2 are considered to be special moves, as they use up power from the "rage gauge" shown under the health bar. The characters Jack and Mr. Big also perform throws as their desperation moves, which can be used when at low health.
This game has a secret hidden boss character called Geese, who the player can fight if they get to the end of the game without ever being defeated. Geese is playable in the SNES version of the game, but here I had to find a hacked version of the arcade ROM to access Geese as a playable character. Geese only has one working sprite palette in the hacked arcade version, meaning the second player has a strange looking colour scheme when simultaneously selecting Geese with player one.
