"Ashes of the Singularity" Beta1-DX12-Early-Gameplay in 21:9/3440x1440/UWQHD/~4k
Today I couldn't resist and bought "Ashes of the Singularity" which I hope is a massive scale RTS-Game in the tradition of Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander, the two best RTS-Games of all time in my opinion regarding massive scale and most intuitive controls to handle that.
With "Ashes" being not more than a benchmark and DX12-Techdemo within the last year I was eager to find out if there finally is a game with todays first Beta1-Release on Steam and GoG. And fuck Yeah: It is! It wasn't an easy decision after the money I wasted with "Planetary Annihilations" Early-Access.
I was so impressed that I forgot to hit the record button, not sure if it was gonna work under DX12 anyway. Impressed not visually, but gameplay-wise. These are really my first ever 22 minutes with the game, knowing nothing about its possibilities yet.
21:9 is supported perfectly, HUD-Elements can be scaled by 130% already, could use up to 150% as they are still to small, UHD will suffer even more. In the Benchmark-Scene VRAM-Usage is at 4GB VRAM and in the early gameplay before I've seen 3.8GB. They are still much into tweaking performance but I find it perfectly playable already. Regarding system memory Ashes took around 5GB RAM here.
If you're interested in large scale RTS-Games, you seriously should have an Eye on Ashes of the Singularity.
Benchmark-Scene with lots of action going on starts at 18:20
I forgot to capture the settings which are everything maxed with 4xMSAA and no Temporal-AA.
Get it on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/228880/
And do yourself a favor: DON'T GET THE GAME ON GoG! MP-Communities of GoG and Steam are separated and the DRM-Free GoG-Plattform requires the GoG-Client for Multiplayer.
