Wonderful port of the arcade smash-- but this one is in color! And Atari really got the controls just right this time, without the plethora of confusing controls from the original. You also have a whopping 66 game variations (though the same basic 8 repeat, with a new special feature for your ship each set like shields, flipping, hyperspace, or none), and some feature asteroids that move faster when you break them up with your shots, some give you an extra life at 5,000 or 10,000 or 20,000 or not at all, etc. The second half of variations (34-66) are for 2 player alternating play and 33 and 66 are easier and for kids. Setting the difficulty switch to A is really the way to go, as this gives you the enemy ships from the arcade game. I fell in love with this game right away and I believe the family got the Atari 2600 in December of 1981, so this was a game we picked up shortly after. My sis and I were able to constantly flip the score over (reach 100,000 points) but I can only do that nowadays on the B setting. Unending fun! Just refrain from using the thrusters if possible, NEVER use hyperspace unless you're in deep s**t, and keep asteroids from encroaching your comfort zone. ANNOUNCEMENT: I will refrain from uploading #1 yet, until my next video-- which features Honorable Mentions and Guilty Pleasures, which just missed the cut, and also Games To Avoid-- is complete. Then we will dive into my choice for the #1 game of all time for the Atari 2600.. stay tuned! Thanks for watching!
