This is Defender, based on the Williams classic coin op game developed by Eugene Jarvis. This game is here ported to the Atari 2600, and I have to say, I actually prefer this version. It's enjoyable, a great learning experience on how the arcade original is played and the bonus is I can survive more than seventeen seconds!
Luckily I am not alone in enjoying this simplified version. Many Atari fans have agreed this is a very respectable port given the limitations of the hardware and the ridiculous challenge of the original.
