In which I play "Atom Smasher", the 1982 game published by CCP and written by Tim Ferris. It's an asteroids-esque educational game. It's too bad that more education software wasn't this much fun!

It takes you through the elements from hydrogen to sulfur. The player shoots away the electrons from the atom and tries to catch them as they fly out of the playfield. As the electrons are removed there is a stronger and stronger attraction between the atomic nucleus and the player's ship, which is apparently negatively charged. It gets to be quite challenging!
