9In which I play "Topper", published by Romox in 1983, and programmed by Myron Meier. As games in the general mold of Q*Bert go, it's not bad. There is a lack of variety in the levels, and "difficulty" has been added, partially, in the form of random, unavoidable player death. That, as you might know, is about my least favourite thing in a game. It's not fair to the player, and it leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.
Now, all that said, the graphics are decent, the sounds and music are pretty good, and control is solid. There is the core of a good game here. It's too bad that a little more attention was not paid to polishing it.
