Atari 8-bit: Star Raiders
0One of the earliest games on the system, and yet surprisingly advanced, Star Raiders features first-person space combat and does a respectable job of simulating 3D. I try playing on Pilot difficulty for a change, and the frequency with which my ship's systems keep getting damaged or destroyed reminds me of why I always used to stick with Novice. Is there a trick to dodging that I never learned, or is that just the way the game is?
Honestly, I shouldn't be complaining so much about subsystem damage when the main reason I picked Pilot was to demonstrate subsystem damage. And it's really not that bad unless your shields are damaged or you lose weapons entirely. I think I'm just a bit grumpy from being woken up early.
