Audio Logs (Julius) While Edging with High Notoriety - Saints Row IV: Re-Elected
We're knocking these audio logs out of the park, and now we've come to the most interesting 'villain' of the bunch - Julius. I apologize for the high notoriety edging throughout the video before finally giving that Warden climax. Sure teasing can be fun and all, but it caused bits of Julius' dialogue to get cut off, and his story is interesting.
So, as promised, here's what he said in those logs, as well as the story of Julius.
Julius grew up in Stilwater with Ben King and dated Ben's sister, Angela. Everything was good until a gang called Los Carnales came to the rain demise on the neighborhood, so Ben created the Vice Kings with Julius, as a gang to counter Los Carnales.
However, Julius watched as the Vice Kings became the very thing they set out to destroy, turning into just as much of a threat to Stilwater as Los Carnales, That's when Julius left and moved to Saints Row.
Shortly after, Saints Row became home to a gang called the Westside Rollerz. On top of the Vice Kings and the resurgence of the Los Carnales, Saints Row became the battleground for THREE GANGS fighting for dominance. When Julius saw that the Vice Kings were now adding to the violence going on between the gangs in the Row, he decided to recruit members for his own gang to rid Stilwater of the other gangs.
Julius created the 3rd Street Saints.
Audio Log #1: "When the Vice Kings stopped being about protecting Sunnyvale, I knew it was time to get outta the game. I was hopin' that Benjamin could keep the city locked down, but years passed and it ended up being the same old shit, only this time the victims were the people in Saints Row[sic] . I thought the Vice Kings' was a cautionary tale that I'd learn somethin' from, that if I built a new street gang I could control it, not make the same mistakes King did. I was so fuckin' naive."
After the formation of the 3rd Street Saints, Julius and a friend named Troy rescue The Boss (before they became The Boss) from being killed by the Vice Kings, and recruit The Boss as a member. Together they proceed to destroy the 3 warring gangs. Julius even reunites with Ben King (betrayed by the Vice Kings) and recruits him too.
With Stilwater in the Saints' control, Julius names The Boss as his right-hand woman. However, Julius is soon arrested by Troy, who was actually an undercover cop. At the threat of police chief Monroe killing Julius, the Saints are forced to kill the mayor of Stilwater - Marshall Winslow.
However, it's not enough. The Saints are told to do even more. But eventually The Boss is able to kill Monroe. In response to this, Troy calls Julius and tells him that he doesn't want to arrest his friends, and asks Julius to convince The Boss and Johnny Gat to drop their flags.
But Julius knew that The Boss wouldn't stop. She wouldn't back down. In order to save the rest of the Saints, he planted a bomb on a yacht that The Boss was on, to kill her and disband the Saints.
Audio Log #2: "I knew early on what it was I let loose on Stilwater. The playa was reckless and uncaring. Left a wake of bodies pointing right back at us. Think more of the city was destroyed than saved in the end. Sure the Saints were taking over, but at what cost? I couldn't risk letting a sociopath run things, so I did what I had to do. Never thought the bastard would survive the explosion."
The Boss indeed survived the explosion, being put into a 5-year coma. In the meantime, Julius reforms and drops his flags after being let off the hook by Troy. He becomes a tour guide for the Saints Row Church, talking about his life in the 3rd Street Saints and why he formed the gang.
It is at this point that The Boss wakes up from her coma, coming across some wiretap conversations that reveal that Julius had betrayed her and planted the bomb. She contacts a man named Dex, who says he knows where Julius is and tells her to come to the Saints Row Church to meet him.
However, it is Julius who The Boss finds there. The meeting had been a setup by Dex to have them both killed. The two are able to defend the church from the Masako and flee to Thalia Amiptheatre. After defending themselves there as well, the Masako fall back, and Julius feels himself becoming comfortable with The Boss again, saying that it felt "just like old times".
That's when The Boss shoots Julius.
The two argue, with Julius explaining why he attempted to kill her. He then says that she owes him his life because if it weren't for him, she'd have been dead to the Vice Kings. The Boss retorts by saying that if it weren't for him, she wouldn't have been in a "goddamn coma".
Julius responds by sarcastically telling her that that they're now even.
The Boss responds by shooting Julius in the head.
Audio Log #3: "I don't regret much. You make your choices, you live with 'em. But if I could take anything back, it would be the way things ended up with Angela. It was all fun and games for her. She wanted to be just like Benjamin. I shouldn'ta let her get in so deep."
