The kitty-cat man has his time in the spotlight now. Unfortunately for him, he really doesn't have much to work with on his end. Since he has no skills other than his mastery skill, he really is just Rend or bust. And being a cat with low speed (still pretty good, just not for a cat), he can't really rely on attacking first every time like Lethe and Lyre can consistently. This also makes his avoid much less than theirs giving him less opportunities to proc his only win-con. Even his Str isn't higher than the other two cats, so he doesn't have anything on the other cats in the series. His only saving grace is that he has one of the "you are dead" mastery skills in the game, Rend, which even if he had 30 Str or something really low, he would still one-shot units that have amazing defenses. 30% chance to proc it is not too bad either, but the fact that he doesn't double as many units as the other cats leaves him in the dust in that regard. I'd like to say more on Ranulf, but there really isn't anything else to say, he just has a very mundane build.

The unit with the higher base speed will initiate first. (If unit has Shade or Stillness they will always choose who goes first). If both units have the same speed, the unit whose video it is will go first.

For weapons, the unit who is faster chooses the weapon they want the unit they are attacking gets to choose a weapon to counter them with. The unit who attacks first, goes through all the possible weapon combinations and picks whatever situation would give them the best chance at victory. After the initial turn, the only time a unit can change their weapon is on their turn.
