The mage with muscles, Tormod, gets his turn through the gauntlet. Tormod, when you look at his stats, is quite underwhelming. His accuracy is terrible even after the patch (He was given an extra 4 Skl/Lck which translates to an extra 12% to his hit rates), his magic is below 50, which is awful on a magic unit, and his bulk on both ends is less than would be desired. However, when you look past those things, you can start to see why he is one of the better Arch Sages in this series. Since he is an Arch Sage, he has access to Staves. Why do you bring up staves you ask? Look at this man's Str stat! Whenever Tormod goes up against a unit with much higher Res than Def, he will, more than likely, opt to use Staves, since the Matrona gives him an extra 100% crit. But it gets better than that as well. Because Celerity was one of the skills that didn't have a use in this series, I translated it to Adept. This means that he can potentially crit 2 times in rapid succession giving him stupid damage in the right situations. And because Adept procs off of Spd and not Skl, his better stat of the two, he has a better than a coin flip's chance to proc it each time. Furthermore, even though he has the worst magic stat out of all the magic units in this series (tied with Oliver), he has Adept, which means he can potentially deal more damage than other magic units not named Soren, as long as he procs Flare/Adept consistently. However, his main problem is just that, if he doesn't proc Flare/Adept enough, he is not doing much damage at all since the tomes in RD are much lower Mt compared to the physical weapons. Many times when he Flares, he doesn't have enough raw damage to take out his opponents full HP (With Rexflame, he only does 62 damage, so anyone over that threshold guarantee survives a Flare from him). So, overall, Tormod has some crazy upside with damage as long as he can hit and/or procs his skills.

The unit with the higher base speed will initiate first. (If unit has Shade or Stillness they will always choose who goes first). If both units have the same speed, the unit whose video it is will go first.

For weapons, the unit who is faster chooses the weapon they want the unit they are attacking gets to choose a weapon to counter them with. The unit who attacks first, goes through all the possible weapon combinations and picks whatever situation would give them the best chance at victory. After the initial turn, the only time a unit can change their weapon is on their turn.
