Qualifying for the Azerbaijan GP at Baku is over and Max Verstappen overcomes the odds to take pole position in a crazy qualifying session where there was a record breaking 6 Red Flags due to crashes from Alex Albon, Nico Hulkenberg, Franco Colapinto, Oliver Bearman, Charles Leclerc and Oscar Piastri all hit the wall at different times. This meant that qualifying was chaos and we saw a crazy session with a crazy top 3 as Max Verstappen in the Red Bull took pole position from Carlos Sainz in the Williams and Liam Lawson was in third place in the Racing Bulls.
Mclaren overall fell away during the Qualifying session as Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri both struggled to deliver decent results, we also saw Ferrari throw it away as Lewis Hamilton went out in Q2 and Charles Leclerc crashed at the start of Q3. Mercedes had a solid day and Kimi Antonelli beat George Russell for the first time in quite a while. In this video we are going to be talking about all of this plus the crazy session Carlos Sainz had in the Williams to almost snatch pole position.
The Azerbaijan GP is an unpredictable street race in the capital city of Baku, known for its unique blend of fast, long straights and narrow, winding sections through the ancient city. The Baku City Circuit features the longest main straight on the F1 calendar, allowing for high speeds and overtaking, followed by a tricky, narrow passage past medieval city walls. The contrast between these fast and technical sections creates challenges for car setup and often leads to dramatic, action-packed races. The Baku circuit typically features some crashes and incidents as the walls are tight.
