The sequence leading to this final boss is very fun and exciting. I think it's great. Who doesn't love a Mega Man style boss rush and a multi-phase final boss fight? What isn't great is the tedious work to put in to get the TRUE final boss, the rival showdown. You have to redo the previous segments with Pandora and co several times as both playable characters with 80% of missions completed. If you enter the final stage WITH 80% missions clear already, that still isn't enough because you still have to clear the game once as both characters to unlock the true final boss.

So to record this video I had to beat the game as Gunvolt, then as Akira, then play once more time as Akira and because I did that all in one sitting I really don't feel like ever playing GV2. It's the best one, Akira is fun to play as but all the Gunvolt parts just aren't as good.

Anyway, on to the rival battle. I don't care for it. The footage presented was my first try doing the fight completely blind. Despite making a massive ton of embarrassing mistakes I still won because of the overpowered heal ability carrying me through. I don't even know how I won because what I did somewhat conflicts with what the wiki says to do when I checked it afterwards.

That's the mark of a GREAT final boss is when you can beat him and not even know how you did it. Gunvolt 2 definitely wins the award for most confusing final boss of all time. This really ended the game on a low note for me and soured me on the series as I didn't play GV3 until months afterwards.

For the sake of fairness, I will still make a Gunvolt 3 video. It's an alright game and while not as good as Akira's mode in GV2 I think it's worth showcasing.
