Tesseract is a first-person shooter with gameplay featuring several Instagib Deathmatch and Capture-the-flag game modes, as well as co-op editing and in-game map creation.
The Tesseract game engine is a fork of the Cube 2: Sauerbraten engine. The specific feature of this engine is the map creation using modern dynamic rendering method, which provides an instant response to lighting changes.
The game engine Tesseract removed the static lighting system lightmapping, which was in engine Sauerbraten and replaced by a fully dynamic lighting system based on delayed shading and shadowmapping.
The engine provides a bunch of new rendering features, here are some of them:
Deferred shading and lighting.
Omnidirectional, point light sources using subemap shadowmaps.
HDR - rendering using tonemapping and bloom.
Global illumination (sunlight simulation) in real-time.
Runs on OpenGL Core versions (3.0+) as well as (2.1+).
Oculus Rift support.
