Backlog Resolution: Armored Hunter Gunhound EX Part 5 (Finale)
One last mission, using a few of the best weapons available, most significantly the beam cannon. If you had to finish the campaign to unlock that weapon, I might have been stuck on this stage even longer than I was. Also this stage features the only time in the whole game where Zero-G controls are necessary, and the boss is designed so that you can tumble through the air around it with no real control shooting all your guns and you'll eventually still win.
Sometimes, it's better to leave an idea out than to try forcing it into your video game. The ground combat controls were slippery in places, but they worked. We didn't need the flight or Zero-G systems at all and they honestly only dragged down the stages they were in IMO.
Armored Hunter Gunhound EX is a 2013 PSP doujin game inspired by 16-bit classics like the Assault Suits series and Front Mission: Gun Hazard. Mixing platforming with mecha combat, this mostly grounded shmup features fun combat and movement, a surprising amount of customization, and plenty of replay value for chasing high scores. While Gunhound is no longer listed on Steam, the game that most heavily inspired it, Assault Suits Leynos, is available in a modern HD remaster, and Gunhound's code is actually now open source, so you might still be able to get your hands on this game if you look around for it.
