Bad Things Happen in Philadelphia | Guitar Play Through | A Minor Error

This song features Joe Calderone of Arch Echo on bass and I'm very lucky to be able to work with him! He's played on my other songs in the past and he's an incredible musician. As always, I produced everything else: keyboard/drum programming and the mix and master.
All rhythm guitar parts were recorded using a Kiesel Vader VM7 and I used an ultra rare Ibanez J Custom RG7CST handling all lead duties. This RG is one of only 11 guitars in the world and I'm very fortunate to have it in the arsenal. All guitar tones are via Stringjoy String and amps are Neural DSP: Fortin Nameless on the rhythm guitar and Archetype: Plini for the leads and other textures.
This song started out as a reworking of an old song called 'Opaque' from college back in 2007-ish and then morphed into something entirely different back in 2017 while writing a barrage of new tunes with my singer Akiem Saddler. After we parted ways I wound up reworking the whole song to work as an instrumental and I'm really proud of the themes and think the mix and master is my best work to date!
Yes, the title is political and it is a reference to the 2020 election that Donald Trump lost fair and square and a celebration of the time that Philly played its role in sending that looser packing. What happens in November of this year will be something else entirely and maybe I'll regret gloating his defeat if he gets a second term and four more years to set this country back but for now...I'm glad he's not in power.
