Battle Brothers commits one of gaming's greatest sins when it comes to onboarding new players: it doesn't. It says there is a tutorial and recommends starting on Easy, but if what I played was supposed to be a tutorial, it was a cruel joke. Opinions will differ, but if a game can't take the time to teach me how to play it, I'm not going to take the time to learn how to play it, especially when it comes to strategy games. Battle Brothers might be a good game, it might even be a great one, but it didn't respect my time by expecting me to seek outside help in order to learn how to play it and there's nothing I hate more than a game that doesn't respect my time.
