Original (1995) Vs Remake! (2002)

This one is a little bit different. It's not about system Vs system, this is Original Vs Remake! The original was first released in arcades in 1994 & the Saturn received an excellent port in 1995. At the time is was considered a "killer App" for the system because of the popularity of the arcade game. In 2002 Sega released "Virtua Cop Elite Edition" ("Virtua Cop Rebirth" in Japan), a combination of both Virtua Cop 1 & 2 with updated graphics & controls for the Playstation 2.

Graphics (Technical): No contest, the higher polygon count & new textures of the PS2 game are more than most could have dreamed of back in 1995.

Graphics (Artistic): I personally prefer the original's bright colours & cheesy character designs to the remake's bland, blurry textures & more realistic style. Because when I think of Virtua Cop, I think of the C.O.P.S animated series.

Sound: Sega just reused the original music & SFX from the old game. Some might say that's a good thing but I call it lazy! The Vcop games have some iconic tunes in them & I would've loved to hear a few remixed .

Control: Light guns work fine in both versions but modern TV's don't allow for light guns so we have to make do with controllers. The original required the player to double tap the reload button. In the remake it only needs to be pressed once. This is a huge difference maker!!
