Battlefield 1 and the Presentation of War in Games [Quick Bits]
War. It’s a small word, but there’s an immense weight behind it. A stain on the world’s history that seems to keep reappearing and spreading, no matter how much time passes or how heavily we try to wash ourselves of it. It makes sense that it would find its way into games, just like it made its way into books, movies and comics.
This video is a think-piece about how Battlefield 1 bends the mold that modern-day AAA shooters have fallen into, and how it can be a step forward for the presentation of something as brutal as war.
