Under the green hue of the Northern Lights and hidden among the Norwegian mountains, something dangerous is being built, something that could dramatically alter the direction of World War 2.
In Nordlys, players take on the role of a Solveig, a young Norwegian resistance fighter. Alone, she must brave the unforgiving cold of the Norway winter as well as evade or engage occupation soldiers, thwart a war scheme, and rescue her captive mother.
“This is a tale of resistance, family and sacrifice in the Scandinavian peaks. You're a guerilla fighter that terrifies the local German garrison while trying to rescue a member of the resistance.” said Eric Holmes, War Stories design director.
As players move deeper into Nordlys, they’ll discover that the main character’s story centers not only on a fight for her country’s liberation from occupying forces, but her family’s survival.
Pelle Hallert, cinematic director with DICE, said he enjoyed shooting the cinematics for what he felt was a relevant story with a compelling backdrop.
“We are trying to tell players an untold story. I'm not sure how many are familiar with the heavy water production in Norway and what actually went on there,” he said. “But it was important for the Germans and the resistance fighters who actually put up their lives in order to eliminate or destroy this heavy water.”
Enjoy the cold winter of Norway in Ultra High graphics at 60FPS!
