Bayonetta 1 (NS): Chapter IV: The Cardinal Virtue of Fortitude (Normal, Fortitudo Boss)
This Chapter is the first boss Chapter, and as such, its only Verse is that against the boss, itself.
Bayonetta meets the dragon-like angel at the coliseum she recently stumbled into. The being's name is revealed as Fortitudo. He is the Bringer of Flames, and the first of four Auditio.
Fortitudo intends to end Bayonetta's life to end the witch hunts and send her back into the realm of the demons.
"Flock off, feather-face!"
----------
Against a major boss like Fortitudo, Bayonetta unleashes her Serious form, which makes ALL of her attacks release Wicked Weaves, not just her combo finishers.
Watch for Fortitudo's attacks. He will mainly use his dragon heads to attack you either on the bridges, or right on the around. Your first task in this fight is the literally rip those dragons' heads off of Fortitudo.
There will be at times where the terrain does change between the ground and the bridges, and you can maybe use a magic hourglass to reverse this. If Fortitudo razes the ground in lava, you may be able to have Bayonetta jump from rubble to rubble to reach him from the distance and piledrive him back into the ground!
Major bosses have multiple stacks of health, but their lowest one will be yellow.
----------
After ripping off both dragon heads, and when Fortitudo's health gets low enough, he sends the entire coliseum into the skies above for one last dance against our Umbra Witch. The music changes, and things start to get even more climatic as Fortitudo tries more dangerous attacks. Also, never separate Bayonetta from her lollipops.
You only have a limited amount of time to finish Fortitudo off from here. But once you do bring his health down to zero... It's time for a new kind of Umbra Climax!
Bayonetta will summon the Infernal Demon, a bird beast called Malphas, to feed on Fortitudo's last face to finish him off and end the fight.
Fortitudo was not upset with his failure to defeat Bayonetta. Rather, he was impressed that a certain prophecy was correct of how she was capable, and that he accept being a sacrifice towards somehow having Bayonetta eventually awaken his Creator...
Before he is swallowed up by the monsters of Inferno, he bids farewell to Bayonetta, telling her "May the Creator, Jubelius, grace you!"
It was time for Bayonetta to take a long drop to my on through her journey. The voice of the mysterious man pierced through her once again, claiming that he is continuing his watch on her...
