Finale - Epilogue: Requiem
NOTE: Forgot to include the beginning bit but it doesn't matter. This is the final episode of Bayonetta.
Now comes the end… Requiem. Having been freed of the angels’ influence, Jeanne races to save Bayonetta who has to contend with Jubileus, the Creator. It splits into several segments with the end being a final battle.
The first part has you playing as Jeanne and you have to ride a motorcycle to reach Bayonetta. Angels will stop at nothing to destroy you but you must rely on your skill and wit to persevere. Eventually you will need to use Lynx Within to run fast enough to reach the top. There’s an Alfheim here if you look hard enough.
The big final boss here is the creator Jubileus. This is a five part boss fight with each phase gets harder and you’ll need your best weapons to do it. The first phase has it either punching you or using its ribbons so stab the ground and/or unleash missiles on you. You can use Panther Punt to send the missiles right back. Afterwards it’ll pull back and then punch you. Dodge and then deliver the pain. Witch Time helps.
Next comes phase two and he’ll fill the area with lava. Having Odette or Durga Fire can help you be immune to the flames. Take advantage of a Witch Time so you can deal pain to it. Phase 3 is where things turn to ice. Having Odette will make you immunity to freezing. Jump from one platform to the next in order to reach a ribbon. When you do, let him have it. After dealing with all the ribbons then you can go for his face. Phase 4 has it summoning a large tornado. You need to move through platforms while avoiding lightning shocks. Having Durga Lightning will make you immune to lightning. You know the drill. Aftwards, a cutscene happens then you jump up to its face, smack it and attack it while it’s down.
Now comes the fifth and last phase. Its attacks get more vicious. It’ll summon blue disks that when hit turn you into Cereza. If that happens, it’ll follow with three punches. Two will miss but the third will hit. Using either Crow or Bat Within can hit. If you are quick enough, you can use Bat Within and if you are turned back to normal, you get a free hit. It also has a one-hit kill where it stabs all the ribbons into the ground and then punches the center causing a black hole. Go into Panther Within and run far away from it. Things will repeat and you really need to be careful. Eventually you’ll do an Umbran Climax to summon a large pillar of hair. Use Panther Within to climb and reach it. Once you do, do another Climax to squeeze the hair rendering it immobile. Let it have it afterwards then do a final Umbran Climax.
The final Umbran Climax lets it summon Queen Sheba and an interactive cutscene follows where Sheba punches Jubileus’ soul out of its body. Afterwards you need to steer its soul into the sun. Should it hit a planet, you lose and you have to try again. The good news is that you don’t have to go through the whole fight again. You just try again.
The credits follow but the game isn’t over right? This last part has you on a stone statue that is now Jubileus’ soulless body. You need to team up with Jeanne to destroy it in 80 seconds. Otherwise you fail. After you destroy the statue, that’s it.
That’s pretty much it for Bayonetta. I will be starting Bayonetta 2 first thing tomorrow.
