BeamNG Controls Comparison! (Mouse, Wheel, Controller, Keyboard)
My BeamNG showcase of different control schemes for a racing sim, redone into a clearer splitscreen video. Left to right, top to bottom: G27 with 900° rotation & H-Pattern shifter, mouse steering (thumb trackball) with -0.02 Deadzone Begin and left click/middle click for shift down/shift up, default keyboard controls, and default Xbox 360 controls.
G27 Wheel: 0'55.704
Xbox 360 controller: 0'56.783
Mouse Steering: 0'57.704
Keyboard: 0'59.156
If you could find a way to get mouse steering with accurate analog throttle and brake control, you could probably rival or possible beat an Xbox 360 controller, and when throttle and brake control aren't necessary, mouse steering is easily a better option. Otherwise, a controller with analog pedals is second best, and wheel conquers all but not by the margin you might expect. Have heard good things about flight stick controls by some, but as of yet haven't tested that.
PC specs are a GTX 1060 and i7 4790K with 16 gigs of RAM. Edited and produced using DaVinci Resolve, Avidemux and FL Studio.
