Beat Saber - This is Peak Frustration
I never upload a failure but this is a special one.
Recently I turned on Windows Insider Previews to test something for work. Well there was an unintended side effect which was that Beat Saber started performing BEAUTIFULLY. I have a powerhouse laptop with a 2070 and a 9750H which is 6 cores that turbo up to 4.5 GHz. Well up until this update i had to play beat saber at 1.0 SS, no AA and I had to use a super simple saber and i was STILL dropping frames like crazy. After this update I was able to turn SS up to 1.2, 4x AA, use any saber i wanted and the game was LIQUID SMOOTH. Now as part of Windows Insider they pushed a new build. I'm dropping frames again. Not as bad as before but certainly not NEARLY as good as before the update. That being said:
Every day I play maps that are out of my league. This map is certainly out of my league as far as a map I can clear on a sightread is concerned. But I was doing freaking fantastic on this one. Then of course, near the end the frames started dropping and the tracking started dropping too. I've now realized that all my tracking problems i was having were also directly related to the frame drops. Whenever I'd start dropping frames if a fast part hit and i swung I would lose it. It's got to be CPU related. If you start to thermal throttle on the CPU during a blazing fast bit of a song your tracking is going to shit out.
So here I am, just about to clear this bonkers map and BAM. It happens. It's not something that is usually captured in the recording. You can sort of tell but you can CERTAINLY watch the tracking fall out. This was such a goddamn disappointment.
I think I'm going to put this beastly laptop up for sale. It handles anything you throw at it with EASE unless it's fucking beat saber. I need to get me a desktop with a liquid cooled CPU to make sure I NEVER hit a thermal throttle during Beat Saber. I repasted this laptop with liquid metal and that made a huge difference but I'm still hitting this bullshit. With how powerful this laptop is that shouldn't be the case.
/End fucking rant.
