The Summit of the Gods is many things - a treatise on the tenacity of the human spirit, a deep-dive into the most unfathomable parts of our psyche, and a stunning entry point into the library of legendary mangaka Jirō Taniguchi. But most of all, it is a simple question: why do we climb?

This video is, more than anything, an homage to the climbing community, and that was only made possible by cribbing copiously from the various documentaries and movies that community has produced over the year. Sections of this video are a montage of those works of art - all sources are listed in the credits, as always, and I encourage you to go check out each and every one of them for truly stomach-turning, soul-affirming cinema.
