Befuddle Quest 5: ZttF - 01 - Time for Janky Platforming
Welcome to Befuddle Quest 5: Zack to the Future!
I previously did the earlier games from this series in streaming format, but I felt like coming back to it without interrupting what I'm currently doing on streams, and also this format allows both for editing out parts where nothing's really happening and for smaller, and for more digestible chunks of gameplay.
I hadn't remembered quite how much this one borrows from Chrono Trigger, though. And I completely forgot how to access the time travel menu until the end of the video, instead accidentally jumping straight into the first puzzle.
Which is exactly what I did my first time playing it, as I recall. The menu itself is good, but the game could be a bit clearer about it being there? Like, maybe if you had to select a destination before using the telepod at all.
Anyway, Prehistoric Zack is impressive technically. However, the jump physics are really wonky, it goes on a bit longer than I feel like it should, and we got some weird glitchiness after running out of lives. On that note, I'd suggest scrapping the life system entirely and just having infinite restarts from the last checkpoint as an anti-frustration measure.
Still, just getting a platformer to work at all in an RPGMaker engine is an accomplishment!

The Befuddle Quest series of collaborative puzzle/maze game community projects continues with a fifth entry, led by kentona and put together in RPG Maker 2003 as usual. This one is themed around time travel, with 14 puzzles (and three of them are by the same contributor).

The story:
"Imagine this: So, Zack and Broomhilda are visiting the local fair, right? And there is a demonstration of a new teleportation device, okay? Zack tries it out at the insistence of Broomhilda, and it works great! So Broomhilda tries...and something goes awry and Broomhilda is zapped away! Now Zack must travel after Broomhilda THROUGH TIME to save her!
Original, no?"
