Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is already a big hit, as it was best-selling game last week in the UK. Armored Core 6 received extremely positive reviews upon its launch, with a lot of praise being given to its combat design.
It looks like Armored Core 6 is selling extremely well on Steam, as it recently hit an impressive milestone on the storefront. According to SteamDB, Armored Core 6 had a peak concurrent player count of 156,171, making it 2023’s fifth-biggest launch on Steam. This total is also higher than the Dark Souls games on the storefront, and there are 116,204 gamers playing Armored Core 6 on Steam at the time of this writing. Now, it looks like Armored Core 6 is also a big hit in the UK, as it claimed the top spot in the sales chart for the region.
As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon was the best-selling game in the UK, pushing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to second place. 64% of all Armored Core 6 copies were sold on PS5, but fans should note that this chart is only based on physical sales. As per the same report, Bandai Namco had hoped that Elden Ring’s popularity would have an impact on the sales of Armored Core 6, allowing it to surpass previous games in the Armored Core series.

The rest of the chart features popular gaming franchises and some other titles released in 2023 that have continued to sell well. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom claimed the third spot, with FIFA 23 and Hogwarts Legacy also in the top five. A PS5 bundle helped LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga take the sixth spot in this chart, with Grand Theft Auto 5 rounding up the list. The recently released Immortals of Aveum debuted at number 21, while Mafia Trilogy and Cyberpunk 2077 saw a massive boost in sales. Overall, the chart mainly consists of new entries in popular franchises and some evergreen titles.

It’ll be interesting to see where Armored Core 6 lands next week, along with its sales performance in other regions once more data is available. FromSoftware is yet to reveal Armored Core 6’s sales numbers, but it does seem like the game has been a huge hit for the developer and Bandai Namco, especially when compared to the sales of previous games in the series.

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

8 Best Energy Weapons in Armored Core 6 (& How to Unlock Them)
Energy weapons in Armored Core 6 are some of the best tools for consistent damage, tearing through shields on tough enemies when you unlock them.
Mech builds that revolve around Energy Weapons in Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon fire lasers and plasma at their enemies to deal some of the best, consistent damage in the game. You can unlock energy weapons in the Parts Shop and other equipment by completing select missions. The strongest energy-based tools have high attack power, decent impact damage, and sometimes even multiple abilities.

Any energy weapon in Armored Core 6 may be purchased from the Part Shop in exchange for COAM, the main currency you earn from beating missions. One of the easiest ways to gain money is to replay missions that take little time to beat. As you get closer and closer to beating this mech-building action game, more missions and Arena matches will open up as sources to farm plenty of COAM.

How to Unlock - Complete Training Mission Intermediate Support 2: "Reverse-Jointed ACs"
Rewarded from finishing an early Training Mission, this Laser Handgun might be one of the first energy weapons you come across in Armored Core 6. This lightweight gun fires a quick shot that deals above-average damage compared to other tools in early chapters. The Handgun can also shoot a rapid three blasts when the weapon is charged, making it a great tool to damage shields and stagger enemies.

How to Unlock - Complete Mission 7: "Destroy the Weaponized Mining Ship"
Like the kinetic Linear Rifle, this Laser Rifle fires a single, highly accurate shot toward a target with a blue beam that deals above-average damage. With a charged shot that increases this destructive power further, this weapon is consistently reliable, with a rapid rate of fire compared to other energy guns. The PvP mode of Armored Core 6 is a fantastic place to use this Laser Rifle, which can keep up the pressure from long-range.

How to Unlock - Complete Mission 8: "Operation Wallclimber"
This Pulse Gun may seem unconventional, firing a series of rapid-fire bubbles made of plasma, but this weapon is essential against bosses that wield shields. Enemies like Balteus in Armored Core 6 have incredibly tough defenses through energy barriers, which this weapon is designed to take down. While its raw damage or impact may be small, it serves a specific purpose that other weapons don't fulfill as well.
