for my critical film theory class, i decided to focus on how animation represents real time.

the time the audience sees is actually a product of hours of production, which is normally hidden to make the final film feel as real as possible. but here, i decided to show both, with each corner of sped-up recordings representing a different character i drew poses for.

the only idea i prepared was that there were four characters, each representing a different kind of animation style (simple, film, smear, rubberhose), and they were taking a picture. so, everything that happens in the middle was made up on the spot.

i contemplated only publicizing the finished animation rather than the scholarly one, but i've actually grown fond of how fascinating the division of focus is. and now y'all can see my frame-by-frame animation process. do you have a favorite animation style? :)

i'm currently on winter break, and there are more uploads i'm planning. thank you everyone for 227k!
