Best 2D Fighting Games for PS1
1: Mortal Kombat trilogy
The Mortal Kombat series was originally a 2d fighting game.
The series transformed to a 3d world in mortal kombat 4 which replaced the digitized characters with 3d characters.
The Mortal Kombat Trilogy is my favorite game in the franchise.
It combines all of the characters from all three games into one game, complete with all of their special moves and finishers, as well as fast and smooth game play and a great combo system.
All of the bosses from the preview games that have never been playable before are also included in the game like Motaro and Shao Kahn.
In addition to the bosses, all hidden characters are playable without the need for a cheat code like smoke and noob saibot.
Unlike many other 2D fighting games, this one runs smoothly on the PS1.
2: Marvel Super Heroes Vurses Street Fighter
Originally released in 1997 for arcades, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter made its way to the PlayStation in 1999.
The game is a crossover between the 1995 release of the first Marvel Super Heroes arcade game and the 1991 release of Street Fighter II.
There are 17 fighters to choose from; 8 are from Marvel and 9 are from Street Fighter.
The game came after X-Men vs. Street Fighter.
All of the X-Men's fighters in X-Men vs. Street Fighter have been replaced by other Marvel characters like Spider-Man and the Hulk, with the exception of Cyclops and Wolverine.
Marvel vs. Capcom came next , but I still like this one better because it features more Street Fighter characters.
3:Street fighter alpha 3.
There are many street fighter games on playstation but the alpha series are the best in the system
Between all 3 Street Fighter Alpha games (aka Zero in Japan), I chose alpha 3 which play faster ,more character selection and better graphics compared to other two games
It has 37 playable characters from all previous games and more special moves like Super Combo Finishes.
4: REAL BOUT FATAL FURY SPECIAL .
The fourth title of popular fighting game series Fatal Fury originally released for the NEOGEO console
released by SNK in 1997. Introducing a brand-new 2-line battle system, a refinement of the Power Gauge system, and the abolishment of the ring-out system, the battle tactics of this system have been further improved .
It's the best neo geo fighting game ported to PlayStation.
The game was never released in the United States. It was made available in both Japan and the pal region.
5 - Pocket Fighter
The game features the same character designs previously used in Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo. The roster of characters is made up of Street Fighter Alpha, Darkstalkers and Street Fighter III as well as Red Earth.
It also has many cameos from various Capcom games as a background decoration in some of the stages
