Bimmy AND Jimmy Available in 1P Game - A Wild Glitch Appears! #shorts
2,924In Double Dragon III for the NES, it's technically possible to play a single player game while having access to both Billy and Jimmy in your character select screen. Normally, you only get access to Billy in a 1-player game, so this trick is kind of useful if you just want to beat the game by yourself.
To perform this glitch, select the 2P Play B mode at the beginning of the game. Note that this trick will require you to control the 2nd player at one point, so it helps to have two controllers (or else you will have to switch controller ports).
When Mission 1 starts, defeat the first enemy, then kick Jimmy toward Brett (the injured guy sitting toward the left). Get Jimmy down to about 1 health bar, then use a spin kick to knock him out. While Jimmy is blinking dead, touch Brett to trigger the conversation with him. Jimmy will magically spring back to his feet while he is dying. Now, keep Jimmy "alive" and defeat all the enemies.
After the last enemy in the dojo is defeated, leave the room with both characters. After exiting the dojo, the second player will no longer have control of a character. The first player will have access to both Bimmy and Jimmy in his character select screen, which essentially allows you to play a single player game with an extra character (and therefore, an extra life). Note, however, that since this is still 2P Play B, the game will still throw additional enemies at you, as it does in a 2-Player game.
When playing as Jimmy, the bottom of the screen will display Jimmy Bare Hands twice, which makes me giggle.
This glitch should still work in the Double Dragon & Kunio-Kun Retro Brawler Bundle as long as you're not playing the version that fixes all the glitches. Haven't tested this, though.
