BIOGRAPHY OF FOOTBALL: Diego Maradona
Diego Armando Maradona left the comforting home of Argentina for Europe after the 1982 World Cup, a tournament that ended with a red card. A player with immense talent, Maradona was outspoken for his 1978 World Cup snub, when he was just a teenager. He would prove all the doubters wrong, being highly successful at Napoli and Barcelona, as well as captaining Argentina at three World Cup tournaments, reaching the final in two and failing a drugs test in the other. And it is that vice, of drugs, alcohol and general misbehaving that has threatened to tarnish Maradona’s legacy. But most know him as one of the greatest footballers to ever live.
