Didn't think this was possible in real time, but apparently it is. You need to grapple on the very last pixel in order to avoid being hit by the fire at the top, but fortunately there's a way to set it up a bit more consistently. Need to fall on the left half of the bottom right thruster and then grapple as you slide off. Works almost every time.
