Blake Shelton is Leaving The Voice
The 36 singers who had made it through the Battle Rounds started the Knockout Rounds on Monday. The first three competitors were country duet the Dryes, R&B performer Kevin Hawkins, and indie pop artist Bodie, all representing Team Blake. Because they were "big vocalists," according to Blake Shelton, he decided to set them against one another. There was no "Mega-Mentor" celebrity mentor on The Voice for the first time in several seasons. But regrettably, he was somewhat undone by his own coach's suggestions.
Kevin was singing as if he were some sort of ventriloquist act, wildly careening from his falsetto to his chest voice. That's why that happened," Blake sheepishly admitted. None of these three performances were perfect, really, but all three contestants did enough to make a case for moving on to the Playoffs. " "It's been a good run," John quipped.
"After 22 seasons!" Camila shouted. Ironically, after this season's Knockouts were recorded, Blake really revealed that he would be leaving The Voice after Season 23. However, I doubt the introduction of three-way Knockouts had anything to do with his decision to leave. In my 22 years as a coach, I've never had such pressure. Kevin chose Gwen Stefani, another peroxide-platinum type musician. Gwen: Ever since the Blinds, I've been looking for Kevin.
He has such control over his voice. "I tell you, I did not make these three-way Knockouts easy."
