Bloodborne - Final bosses and Childhood's Beginning ending (New game plus)
[WARNING: THIS VIDEO CONTAINS HEAVY SPOILERS FROM THE FINAL SEQUENCE OF BLOODBORNE]
This video features the final sequence of Bloodborne with the two possible and totally skippable final bosses, Gehrman, the First Hunter and the Moon Presence, and one of the three endings, Childhood's Beginning, while playing on new game plus mode.
The main story of Bloodborne can have three different endings: while two of them can be easily selected during a conversarion prior to the final boss, the third one requires you to have done some digging in the previous areas. Here are the three endings you can choose from:
- Yharnam Sunrise is the easiest ending to unlock and requires you to accept Gehrman's offer. Your hunter escape the dream and forgets everything he/she has learned. While this ending allows you to skip the final boss, it won't allow you to retrive the Old Hunter badge, which unlocks the Burial Blade (Gehrman's scythe) for purchase in new game plus
- Childhood's Beginning requires a bit of preparation. You must find at least three of the four One Third of Umbilical Cord in the game: one is automatically given to you after defeating Mergo's Wet Nurse, but the other three are rather tricky to find. Once you got them, you must consume them before killing the final boss: any moment prior to that is as good as any. You must then face Gehrman in combat by refusing his offer: upon his defeat the Moon Presence will approach your hunter and try to take control of him/her, only to be rejected. The Moon Presence will then become the true final boss of the game. The events of this ending will turn your hunter into a newborn Great One
- Honoring Wishes plays out exactly as the Childhood's beginning ending, but it's unlocked by NOT having found and consumed the three One Third of Umbilical Cord. The Moon Presence will take control of your hunter, who will become the new Keeper of the Hunt
Gehrman, the First Hunter can be best described as Father Gascoigne on steroids: he's a hunter NPC who will hit you fast and hard. His main weakness is that all his melee attacks can be parried and expose him to a very damaging visceral attack each time. Parrying him in his first phase while he holds the scythe is really easy, but when he pulls out a pistol and the first mode of the Burial Blade parrying him becomes more difficult. In his last phase Gehrman will use the power of the Old Hunter Bone to move and dodge even faster and gains two new attacks: he will stand still and charge an arcane energy nova in his surrounding and will jump hig in the air to cast a big whirlwind with his scythe. He'll use the Burial Blade in its two modes as before, so parrying him it's still the best way to damage him.
For being the true final boss of the game and a Great One, the Moon Presence isn't really that impressive: he's basically a faster and more fagile Cleric Beast and far easier to beat than Gehrman. His combos are fast, but leave his sides open to attack and he has only two special attacks: one will reduce your HPs to one (but the boss will stand still for several seconds after casting it, making recovering your health incredibly easy), the other will shoot a black ooze from his tails that will prevent you from healing for a bit
