In my opinion the BMW R18 makes for the perfect canvass to do a custom bike on. In previous episodes I covered the BMW South Africa custom competition based on the R18 and also followed The BMW Fourways custom build step by step.
In this episode I reveal my Route 21 custom, based on the R18 Pure First Edition, and explain the theme, concept and synergies to BMW history. I also show the small attention to detail and intricate work as well as individual once off work such as exhaust pipes.
Looking at this stunning machine closely you will very quickly see the old aircraft look with pop riveted sheet metal but on closer inspection you can see to cues that bring it back to the Top Gun movie and in particular his P51 mustang plane he flies.
