Bob Plays "Badiya"
7Skyrim meets Lawrence of Arabia? Badiya is a survival game in a procedurally generated open world of deserts (and according to the trailers, oceans too.) Kill bad guys, find bedouin camps, trade, hunt, and most of all don't get lost, because in Badiya getting lost may very likely mean getting dead. The desert is BIG, water sources are few and far between, and dust storms can leave you helplessly sitting in place while your food and water run out. Sound like fun? It actually is pretty fun.
Badiya is in early access, which means performance issues, lag, and sometimes crashes. If you are willing to put up with the usual early access problems and especially if you can get it on sale, it's definitely worth buying. It probably more than any other game ever brings home the truism that on the desert, as in the ocean and in outer space, navigation is life.
I might do a series on this at some later date, when I kill off the character I am playing now. For right now this is just a one-off.
