Borderlands 3 Review | Just More Borderlands? Not A Problem
691Matthew’s Borderlands 3 review verdict? It’s just more Borderlands, but sometimes more is enough. More shotguns, more story, more planets, more jokes (and more bad jokes), more bosses and more of those delightful Jakobs guns (our favourite). If you liked Borderlands 2, but it left you wanting… more, our Borderlands 3 PC review might put you at ease.
I should point out this is Rock Paper Shotgun’s video channels Borderlands 3 review - there is a lovely Borderlands 3 test on RPS: The Site. That was written by Nate, who we played co-op with for most of the game. But we had our own Borderlands 3 impressions to share. And it’s mostly good news: while the campaign length is a bit bloated and struggles to disguise endless fetch quests, the loot game around it is as compelling as ever. We almost made this video an ode to Borderlands 3 Jakobs weapons, because they’ve got real sting in this one. But we talk about other, lesser bangsticks, too.
Is it the best Borderlands yet? It’s definitely the most Borderlands yet, with the longest campaign and lost of post-credit goodies to keep you slogging away. This isn’t a comprehensive Borderlands 3 endgame review, although we have spent time playing through the final few levels and getting our behinds handed to us by Mayhem modes. But if you want Borderlands 3 legendary weapons, that’s the key to success. That’s on top of 35 hours we put into the campaign, with many side quests we finished afterwards. I’m not sure there’s enough Borderlands 3 story to fill that time, but there’s enough to keep going.
This Borderlands 3 PC gameplay was captured on a GTA 1070 Ti - I didn’t encounter the technical problems along the way, nor did my colleague Nate, but I am aware that others have seen framerate issues and the like. I also din’t have any problems with the co-op matchmaking that I’ve heard some people mention - unless you count me dragging down my co-op team as a problem. Apologies, randoms of the internet.
