Session Is The Most Realistic Skate Game | Session Gameplay And Impressions
1,112Session is a new skateboarding game and probably the closest thing we’ll get to Skate 4. It feels like a spiritual successor to that series, a skate game that puts realism first and foremost and rewards you for the art of virtual skateboarding, rather than some fake arcade layer over the top. Session Early Access starts today, so here are Astrid’s impressions and new gameplay. Enjoy.
As you’ll see from the Session gameplay, the focus is very much on mimicking the realism of actual skateboarding - no physics defying Tony Hawk grinding here, just a lot of nervous thumb stick flicks and an immense sense of satisfaction when you pull off even the most basic of tricks. Don’t assume that means Session skate game is ultra dry - it really nails the playful vibe of hanging out at a skatepark, working and reworking moves until you get them just so. As you’ll see in these Session impressions, it captures the atmosphere of skating really nicely.
These are Session early access impressions, not a final Session review - we will hopefully do one of those when the final version arrives, but we hope these thoughts give you a good idea of what to expect from the game as it is now. If we were to do a Session early access review, we’d give it a thumbs up for the way it rewards focus and attention, but we appreciate if you want to hold off for the final game. There are a few glitches in what we played, but it’s definitely playable. Just watch out Session PC gameplay to see exactly where it's at. There’s aren’t many skateboarding games for PC - although the mighty SkateBird is on the horizon - but this is definitely doing good work to right that wrong.
