This video is a quick tutorial explaining what weapon trinkets are and how to equip them in Borderlands 3 / BL3. Weapon trinkets (before unlocking them) are cube-like thingies in your inventory. Upon clicking / unlocking them for the first time, I personally did not know what they are and how to equip them. After unlocking at least one weapon trinket, open your inventory. Click the empty box to the left of your weapon. You'll have an option to equip the trinkets you've already unlocked. It adds a little customization to your gun - more dangling details. Doesn't necessarily affect the core gameplay, but it's a nice touch.
Note that looting a trinket that you've already activated before won't let you activate it again.
