For proot users: Make a .bat file (name doesn't matter i name it game.bat for all games that need this fix) and add the line darkestdungeonii.exe -force-gfx-direct. Put it in the games folder and run the bat file. The game will stop crashing with the banner crash.
It won't be faster though. Still pretty slow.

Rename the exe and the _data folder to eliminate spaces. Otherwise the bat file won't work.
