Boyd's Toys: Chronicles of the Wayfarer- checking out the Knights of the Kiln and Spirit Wardens!
Here's some models I've been really eager to get my claws on!
Boyd's Toys have been developing their Chronicles of the Wayfarer game and line of models for the last few years. I think I first discovered them when looking for some 15mm models and have been keeping tabs on them since.
They ran a successful Kickstarter campaign for a bust of one of their character models (you can check it out here if you're curious- https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1849625770/chronicles-of-the-wayfarer-the-lawgiver-unmasked ) but had some limited gaming size models made as well, which I was far more interested in.
While I can't speak to how the game plays as I haven't tried it yet, I can at least feel comfortable saying that the quality of the models meets my ever- so- picky expectations! Models were sturdy and stable, and despite being preproduction casts that could receive some tweaking to make things easier from a building perspecitve, everything went together nice and easily. Not very many fiddly parts or rage- inducing complicated builds here!
Both factions have a very unified theme and look. The cogs and gears of the Kiln conjure up a very cohesive steampunk and industrial look. Plus they make me fondly reminisce about Chronopia which is never a bad thing! They could also certainly blend in with a lot of other models in your fantasy tabletop game of choice, as many of us are wont to do.
They're currently trying to get funding to launch their game and model line. I've got a vested interest as I really want to see their Guardian Knight, the Black Sun Blademaster, and the bulk of the Spirit Wardens on my table!
