Belphegor is special in regards that only elemental attacks that he is weak to can deal damage to him. This is further worrying as he changes his elemental weakness. Luckily, he uses a simle pattern of Fire, Ice and Lightning, shifting in that order though the starting point is random.
He also summons Spheres now and then, which follow the same weakness and absorb patterns.

I actually find Summoners to be more effective than Black Mages in this battle for the simple reason of them hitting the Spheres as well. They just use up a lot of time if left alone and it is easier to set up Auto Battle with summons than with Target All spells. Also, using Summoning Surge buffs them to good damage amounts quite quickly.

This strategy also makes it possible to learn the three -ja Genomes used in this battle, as the Spheres might use it randomly after being summoned. Otherwise, Belphegor will be locked to doing the element -ja spell you last hit him with, so it can easily be manipulated if need be.
